At 9:09 a long slim winged ‘White-rumped’ Swift sp. was picked up distantly from 1st field reedbed feeding over the west end of Swan Island. The bird was observed several times upto 09:50 albeit distantly (approx 600-700 yards), when it was decided to look from Kirkholme Point for closer views. The bird was seen again over Heslop’s reedbed and over the Mere (again distantly) before it was relocated by Mark Thomas late morning over Swan Island and the Northside of the Mere. Views afforded around this time till midday at least made the decision to identify the bird as a Pacific Swift solid!
