Shag – “seen initially flying with a Cormorant ”head-on” being shorter winged. Both birds then turned and the individual in question was clearly seen to be smaller in direct comparison with a slender body and neck.
The smaller bird then carried on flying south as the Cormorant broke away to come down on the Mere. Assumed to be Shag because of stark contrast in size and structure.” Eds. Sounds more like a quick shag!
