After the sweltering conditions of the previous weekend, the big coats and gloves were out on Saturday, 14 Whoopers dropped into the Mere early afternoon, and the Barnacle Goose flock numbered 89. A single Pink footed Gooses circled te Mere a couple of times before flying south. A Black tailed Godwit on tree island and a small passage of Redwing. FemGoldeneye off KP and a 1w Scaup off there late afternoon. 2 House martin also seen from the Caf.
A gander round Holmpton early Sunday produced 1 Jack Snipe flushed, 5 Snipe over, 4 Chiffs, 1 Blackcap, 1 Brambling, 12 Redwing, Peregrine and a Bonxie south. Late morning down Mere produced 1 Rock Pipit by the jetties, Grey Wag, 5 Goldeneye off KP and 2 off 1st field reedbed. The Barnacle Goose flock had risen to at least 112 today and an Ad Med Gull dropped in with the gulls just south of Heslops reedbed. The wildfowl sheltered from the wind/Helly Hansen brigade at the west end and contained 18+ Pintail, RCP, 1w Scaup and 1 Whooper still (7 Whoopers S.Webb earlier) 1 LittleGullflew out west and a juv Marsh Harrier.
